I just lost a little faith in humanity
"Wal-Mart worker dies after shoppers knock him down"
What would be so important that you would need to bum-rush a Wal-Mart at 5am.... Apparently 2,000 people needed stuff so badly that they broke down the doors to a Wal-Mart and trampled one of the employees. Has our society gotten so focused on having the latest "stuff" that we don't notice that we're stepping on and killing a fellow human? What would Christ think of this behavior? Wasn't it Him that cleared the temple of the people selling their goods? Wasn't it Him that said that love one another as you love yourself? I don't think trampling a man while you're trying to get more stuff is loving one another. How odd is it that the word "stuff" is coming up in the blog.... I'm starting to think that the reason for the season is becoming "stuff." What can I have that will make me happy? What's the newest thing that I can have that I'll appreciate for all but a day and then forget about it? Christmas has become so commercialized that it's lost it's real meaning, the birth of Christ and loving one another. I know I've been guilty and am guilty of the whole wanting new stuff, and I think that it's human, but to get that new stuff, do you have to trample a human to death?Posted by Jeremy Lafary at Friday, November 28, 2008 0 comments

Fundamental Islam is not a religion? What?
"Islam, at least fundamental Islam, is not a religion. It is a political system who's goal is world domination."
That's an exact quote from Pat Robertson of the 700 Club. I was watching tv a few weeks ago, and came across the 700 Club and decided to watch because they were talking about Islam. Not long after I started watching, the above quote was said. The quote made me quite angry, and I ended up calling the 700 Club prayer line to voice my concern about this misquote. I ended up talking to a little old lady, God bless her heart, and we had about a 15 minute conversation/argument about how that statement was false. It ended up with her telling me "the only thing Muslims want to do is kill Christians and Jews"
I will admit, that Islam is sometimes used for political causes, but so is Christianity. I will also admit, that some very violent things have been done in the name of Islam, but some very violent things have also been done in the name of Christianity, The Crusades in particular. Why did The Crusades happen? One reason is because Christians wanted to recapture the Holy Land from Muslims.
All I'm saying, is that if you're going to bash another religion, do your research....

I can't believe it's already the 5th week of classes, it's going so fast! I love the majority of my classes, especially The Christians and my Islam class, they're very interesting. I was a bit behind with stuff, but I just got caught back up yesterday, so needless to say I won't let that happen again.
Things at the Wesley Foundation are going quite well... We're holding steady at 12-13 active members. I'm kind of disappointed, but I think numbers are down all over the place.... So I've narrowed it down to 3 seminaries I'm interested in going to. I'm looking at Iliff, Duke and Garrett. I'm leaning a lot towards Iliff, but I'm keeping my options open.

I'm really bad at blogging
Every time I tell myself I'm going to start blogging more, I don't blog for like 2 months. But I promise, to you my readers, that I will blog more from here on out. Heck, I'm paying for this domain name, so I should probably use it.
My summer has been pretty good. The only exciting part about it was Cornerstone, and that was amazing. I met so many new people, reconnected with a lot of old friends and heard a lot of awesome music. I think my favorite bands of the week were Flatfoot 56, The Glorious Unseen, FBS, Disciple, Grave Robber, Take it Back! and The Scurvies.
I'll write more tomorrow

New post?
Sorry I haven't been updating very much, I've been really busy. Between both jobs, I've hardly had time for sleep in the past month. Last Thursday, me and 7 other guys got laid off from the factory. I can't say I'm not going to miss the money, but it feels really good to have some extra time on my hands. Luckily I'm holding down about 40 hours per week at RadioShack.
In other news, I got a new car! It's a 2000 Mercury Sable Wagon! That's right, Jeremy got a shaggin' wagon! It feels nice to have a car that I can actually go out of town with and not worry about breaking down.
More later,
Jeremy

Ready
Its to the point in the semester where Im dying for it to be summer. I have 2 finals on Monday and 2 on Tuesday and then Im done. I am really looking forward to this summer and having some time off of school. For those of you who don't know, I have decided to go to seminary and go into the ministry after college. I know you're all thinking that i will change my mind in a couple months, but I know I have been called by God to go into the ministry. I do not know what part of the ministry, beit youth ministry or serving a church, but I'm supposed to be involved in some way. Anyways, I hope life is good for all of you.
Cheers

I hope to be getting a domain name soon to make it easier for people to check this. I will let you all know when that happens.
